Assam is a state in north-eastern India. Dispur is the capital of the state Assam. The state is famed for its wildlife, archaeological sites, and tea plantations. It is also known for Assam tea and Assam silk. Being one of northeast India’s stunning seven sisters, vacation in Assam is all about encountering the blend of history, rich culture, and serene nature at the same time. The festival Bihu is the Assamese new year and spring festival. Every year in June Ambubachi festival is celebrated to commemorate the annual menstruation of Goddess Kamakhya. It is celebrated in the famous Kamakhya temple.
The beautiful Assam is famed for Assam tea and Assam silk. It is home to the one-horned Indian rhinoceros, wild water buffalo, tiger and several varieties of Asiatic birds. This state is also known for its festivals. Bihu is one of the famous festivals that is celebrated 3 times a year. Bhoot Jolokia- one of the hottest chillies in the world is also named as Naga chilli that is cultivated in Assam and also in Nagaland and Manipur. The state is also known for the biggest river island-Majuli located on the Brahmaputra river. This place is all covered by greenery and thus is an apt destination. The festival celebrated here is colourful and vibrant. The Majuli has 22 Vaishnava Satras which were established during the 15th century.
The state is also famed for as it holds one of the famous sacred Kamakhya Temple, constructed in the 10th century and is settled at a distance of about 7 km from the city of Guwahati. This temple is devoted to Goddess Kamakhya and is one of the important Shaktipeeth of the country.
