3. Kufri-Shimla

In the local dialect ‘kufr’ means lake. Hence Kufri is derived from the word Kufr. Driving about 20 Km from Shimla on the NH 22 one arrives at Kufri the hill station in Shimla district. The nature park at Kufri is so vivid & picturesque that it creates an unforgettable experience. One can have glimpses of a variety of birds and animals here if one is lucky. It is estimated that there are more than 180 bird and animal species that have their niches here. The Nature Park is a Himalayan wildlife paradise.

There also is a park for the amusement of the visitors, children or adults, the Fun World. One can indulge oneself in unriddled amusement as it provides ample means and ways so that it stands to its name. It is worth mentioning that here in this Fun World one is astonished to find the highest go-kart track - the pride of the Fun World of Kufri.

4. Naldehra

If one wants to venture a little further from Shimla at a distance of about 23 Km is Naldehra a wide-open grasslands area with densely populated Deodar trees surrounding it. The scenic beauty is so delightfully charming that the place has lured many people as if the place is a nature’s magnet. Quite incredible it is to know, yet so true, that Lord Curzon the Viceroy of India (1898-1905) was so enthralled by the beauty of the place that he couldn’t resist the idea of naming his daughter Naldehra.

5. Shali Tibba Temple

Reach Khatnol at a distance of about 45 Km from Shimla. From Khatnol one has to undertake a tiring and tough trek to a mountain top to reach Shali Tibba Temple of goddess Bhima Kali. The visit to the divine abode of Bhima Kali just vaporizes all the pain of the tired bones and instills in one’s mental peace and tranquillity. The view around here is breathtakingly picturesque.

6. Hatu Peak, Narkanda

On arriving at Narkanda situated at 64 Km away from Shimla one is awestruck by the rising Hatu mountain Peak rising to the height of approx. 3,400 m. There is a temple built skilfully in local style constructional architecture that is eye-catching. It is a temple of Goddess Kali. It is really blissful to meditate here and acquire the blessings of the Goddess.

The temple can be accessed both by a motorable road and also by walking uphill with the specific purpose of exploring and enjoying scenic forest & meadows on the way up to maa Kali temple.

7. Hatkoti Temple

Hatkoti temple complex houses Goddess Durga and is built by the local residents of the place. Visitors can reach Hatkoti from Shimla by road by plying 100 Km. Tourists are met with a pleasant sight of paddy fields and orchards so very soothing to the eyes. It is one of the famous temples to make a visit to.

8. Sarahan

It is a small village that is famous for Bhima Devi Temple dedicated to Goddess Bhima Kali who was the deity of the Bushahr kingdom & the temple is considered one of the Shakti Peethas. The temple has a unique design that is an architectural marvel. The landscape consists of snow-covered peaks that make it quite picturesque a sight. One will have to cover a distance of 180 Km from Shimla to reach this place.
