Brahmatal?lake is also known as the lake of Lord Brahma, it is located at an altitude of 10630 feet and is a medium-sized lake. It is one of the best and less visited trekking destinations of Uttarakhand. The Brahmatal trek is best experienced during the winter season from the month of November till March. The base camp of this trek is located in Lohajung which is at the distance of 24 km from Brahmatal.?The total time to complete this trek is 5 nights and 6 days and to start this trek you need to Reach Kathgodam Railway station at your own convenience and from there you will be picked up in Tata Sumo or any other similar vehicle.?

You first and last night will be in the guesthouse located in Lohajung. The other three nights will be in the camp where all the facilities for camping will be provided by Travel Ride. All the medical kits, oxygen cylinders, and structures will be provided at each campsite in case of some medical emergency. You need to be physically fit with no medical condition only then you can enjoy this Brahmatal trek. The level of trek is moderate so it can be enjoyed by beginner trekkers also.

Brahmatal lake is a medium size lake which is also known as Lord Brahma’s lake. As per Hindu mythology, it is believed that at this place Lord Brahma use to meditate. During the trek, you will be getting a glimpse of the local villages where you can learn about the local culture and lifestyle of local people.

The trekking path will pass through various Rhododendrons and Oaks forest and you will also be witnessing some mesmerizing water streams among which some are natural and some are formed due to the melting snow.? Seasons For Brahamtal Trekking

1. Summer

During the summer months, the weather of Brahmatal remains clear and present. You can also feel the cool breeze passing through during the evening and early morning. It is advisable to carry some light woolens at this period of the year, as it may get Chilly during the night time.

2. Winter

During the winter months, the complete area gets under the blanket of thick snow and at this point, you can also have the sight of complete whiteout as everything tends to get under a thick sheet of snow. 3. Monsoon

How To Reach

By Rail

Kathgodam railway station is the nearest railway station that is connected to the major cities of India like Delhi, Howrah, Lucknow, etc. From the railway station, you can hire local bus private vehicles for a taxi to reach Lohajung which is the base camp for the trek.

By Road

There are many government buses, taxis, and that run from Delhi to the Kathgodam bus stand. On reaching Kathgodam you can take a local bus to Kathgodam Railway station? and from there you will be picked up in Tata Sumo or some similar category vehicle. The total distance between Kathgodam and Lohajung is around 217 km which can be covered in the time period of 10 hours.

By Air

Pantnagar Airport is the nearest airport to Kathgodam which is located at a distance of 32km. From the airport, you can hire any local vehicle for a cab to reach Kathgodam by covering a distance of, and then from Kathgodam railway station, you will be picked up in Tata Sumo or similar vehicle.

Best Time To Visit

The best and ideal time for going on Brahmatal trek is during the winter months that is from November to March month. During the winter month due to the presence of snow the trek becomes more thrilling and adventures. The best time to witness snowfall is frim Mid December till the Mid March month.

Points to be taken into consideration

You need to have a tracking stick without that you can't Move in the mountains.

Altitude sickness is a condition that can happen so if you experience any symptoms such as minor headaches,? general discomfort? or nausea then you can directly contact the trek leader. Each campsite is having stretches,? oxygen cylinders, and other medical facilities.

If the weather conditions become unfavorable during the trek then the decision of trek guides and trek leader is final and you need to follow it.

If you are having any minor or major injuries during the trek then you can contact the trek leaders as they are certified wilderness First Aid responders, and there are stretchers on each campsite on which you can be taken to the nearest medical center.

Walkie talkie will be used for communicating from the camping sites to the base camp as there are no networks available in cellphones.

No tight on body-hugging clothes are allowed.

You need to wear light clothes which can dry easily.

Your body should be fully hydrated and you need to carry a water bottle along with you on the trek.

A pair of raincoats should be taken along on the trek.

You should have good Sports or trekking shoes.

While moving upward you should put down your heel first and while coming downwards you need to walk on your flat foot.

Once, the guest is satisfied and gives us the confirmation of the tour we request you to transfer the booking amount mentioned in the below format in any of our bank accounts.

    1st Installment :

    • For making the first installment regarding the complete package tour you need to pay 40% of the total package amount as your booking amount.
    • For only hotel booking you need to pay 40% of the total booking amount of your accommodation cost in the first installment.
    • In the first installment for booking vehicle or transportation you need to make the 40% of total amount mentioned as your transportation cost.
    • For the helicopter booking you need to pay the 100% of total cost as your booking amount in the first installment itself.

    2nd Installment :

    • For making the second installment of your complete tour package you need to pay the 35% of your total package amount in 30 days prior to your day of departure.
    • For your hotel booking you need to pay the 40% of total amount in 30 days prior to your day of departure.
    • For your vehicle or transportation booking in your second installment you need to pay 40% of your total package amount, 30 days before the day of departure.

    3rd Installment :

    • For third and last installment you need to pay the remaining 25% from your total package amount in prior to 15 from your day of your departure.
    • For your third installment regarding the hotel booking you need to pay the 20% of your total package amount in prior to 15 days from your day of departure.
    • For making the third installment regarding your transportation booking you need to pay the 20% of your total package amount in prior to the 15 days from your day of departure.

    Tour Itinerary

    The right to change amend or modify the itinerary of the tour at any time. We will notify you with such changes in prior over the phone or through the mail or the best communication method available at that point of time. Those changes may occur due to situations beyond our control like weather problems, cancellations of trains, flights, and political unrest, etc. We will try our best to keep the tour unchanged. However, any compensation or any refund due to such changes will not be paid by us.

    Hotel Bookings

    Hotel bookings are made by us on behalf of our customers. We are having a tie-up with many hotels. Although all rates are updated on our website, still there are chances that the rates of Hotels may go up/down. Sometimes rates of the hotel are hiked during long weekends and during festive seasons. It is better that you confirm the rates before making an online payment over the mail. The quality of the room, amenities or meals which are displayed in photos on hotel websites may vary. Booking of the rooms on the same floor/adjacent rooms/ non-smoking rooms in any hotel is not guaranteed. The right to change the pre-booked hotel or the category of rooms is reserved, anytime during the tour due to overbooking of a hotel, blocking of the sewage, electricity/water failure, etc.

    Check-in/ Check-out times of hotels / Resorts may vary from city to city. please check these timings before making the booking. Early check-in and late checkout will be charged extra and are subject to the availability of the rooms. Policies for accommodating children and for extra beds may vary from hotel to hotel.

    Vehicle Bookings

    Vehicles are booked on behalf of our customers. We aim to provide the best available vehicle with the best services to our clients. The costs of diesel/petrol prices, interstate taxes, vehicle maintenance cost, toll & taxes, etc are beyond our control. Rates displayed on our website are eligible for change at any time without any prior notice.

    The pre-booked vehicle can be changed to a similar category of vehicle in case of non-availability of the pre-booked vehicle.

    Air-conditioned, as well as non-air-conditioned vehicles are booked as per request. If the air conditioner stops working due to technical fault at any time during the tour will not be our responsibility. No refund or change in the vehicle will be made in between the trip unless the vehicle is not in the condition to go further.

    Amendments or changes after booking

    If you wish to do amendments or change the prior booking, you have to inform us in writing on mail.

    Amendment or changes in any booking will be treated as a new booking and will be subject to availability at that time and the additional cost will be charged. The additional cost will be borne by you. There will be an amendment charge of Rs.1000/- applicable.

    Cancelation of the booking will be informed to us in writing on mail. The cancellation charges will be applicable depending upon the services. Cancellation of the hotels and airlines will be done according to their own cancellation policies.

    The cancellation for a package tour, be applicable as follows :

    • Cancellation before clear 30 working days or more prior to the date of departure of the Tour: 25% of the total tour cost will be charged.
    • Cancellation before clear 29 to 16 working days prior to the date of departure of the Tour: 50% of the total tour cost will be charged.
    • Cancellation before less than 15 clear working days prior to the date of departure of the Tour: 100% of the total tour cost will be charged.

    Balance Payment

    The complete balance payment has to be made before the starting date of the trip. However, the company can ask you anytime to clear the balance payment before 30 days from the date of departure.
    The right is reserved to amend/change the prices offered for the tour and to adjust our charges due to various factors like currency fluctuations, special/high season charge levied by the suppliers, fuel price rise, travel arrangements, hike in any government taxes or visa amounts or for any other reason before the date of departure. All such increased prices must be paid before your departure (Full and final).
    No refund for unutilized services

    There will be no refund or compensation provided for services that are not used. If you fail to avail/use any services due to any reason the company will not provide any kind of refund or any other services as compensation of the unutilized services.

    Itinerary

    Early morning meet and greet with the representative at the Kathgodam/Rishikesh/Dehradun railway station and drive toward Lohajung (prefer the night journey from Delhi to Kathgodam/Dehradun/Rishikesh). This is a tiring 10-hour long journey that will take you through the beautiful view of the majestic mountain. For a few hours, you will be driven along the bank of the Kosi river and later along the Pindar river. On your way, you will be passing through some famous hill stations of Uttarakhand such as Almora, Bheemtal, and Kasauni etc. On arrival at Lohajung around 5 pm, you can witness the peaks of Mount Nanda Ghunti. If you forgot to take some woolens along then you can buy them from the Lohajung market. Then you will check into the guest house and after getting fresh and relaxed by having your evening tea, you will have your dinner in the guest house only. End your day by an overnight stay in a Guesthouse.

    Wake up and enjoy your morning in the lap of nature. Get refreshed and have morning breakfast in the guest house and get ready for the trek. After trekking for some time, on your left side you will come across a small village named Mandoli. This will be your first stop where you can fill your water bottles and take a pause for some time. As you slowly move upward you will come across the confluence point of river Pinda and Kali in Kali valley. While moving forward on your trek path you will come across some mud huts and the rhododendron forest which will be all covered in red flowers when you visit this place during the February or spring month but during the wintertime, there will be a thick layer of snow. After crossing this point you will come across the wooden bridge which is located over the stream and from thereafter crossing the bridge by going downwards, you will be reaching Begum, which will be your resting point. \After taking some rest you will be moving onwards and crossing some streams. When you will cross Gujrani stream from that point it will take approximately 1 hour to reach the camping location. The campaign will be done on the bank of Khopdaliya lake. Here you will be spending your night in the beautiful natural landscape.

    On this day you need to carry around 3 liters of water along with you as there are no water points on the way. Now, you will be trekking through some steep slopes and will pass through rhododendrons and Oaks forest. After crossing it you will be reaching Telandi meadow and it will be a thrilling path during the wintertime as it will be covered with the sheet of snow. After reaching the highest point of 11500 feet now you will be moving downwards to Brahmatal. While moving downwards on your left you will spot a temple with a yellow flag, flying in the air. Moving further, approximately at a point which is 500 meters away from the Brahmatal lake, where you will be doing your overnight stay.

    You will be starting your day early in the morning and will be climbing uphill to reach the Brahmatal lake. Again you will be passing through rhododendrons and Oaks forest. After that, you will be reaching Brahmatal Lake through a zigzag path. This lake looks so astonishing during the daytime when the rays of the sun fall on it. Then you will come across a stream that is made by melting snow. \You will be moving forward on the path and crossing the meadow to reach Brahmatal Pass. This is the toughest part of the trek and you will be really thrilled but as you will reach the pass you will be having the awestruck view of Mount Trishul and Mount Nanda Ghunti. From this point, you can also witness some of the mighty Himalayan peaks such as Trishul, Neelkanth, Nigiri, Mana, Mandi, Haukhambha, Nanda Ghunti, and many more. On moving forward you will come across Tilbudi, which will be our camping site for the day. The overnight stay will be in Tilbudi.

    After getting ready you will be having your stomach full of breakfast and then you will be moving forward to Wan. On this pathway, you will be crossing rhododendrons and oak fields where you can have some marvelous photography sessions. Moving onwards you will spot Chota Tilbundi which is a water source. Moving ahead for 30 mins you will be coming across Wan Village and from.this point after trekking for one more hour you will be reaching a point where a vehicle will be arranged for you to reach Lohajung. The overnight stay will be at the guest house in Lohajung.

    The last day of the day of your trek has already begun. Get refreshments and have your breakfast in the guest house only. Now it’s time to pack all your stuff and check out from the guest house. After this, you will be transferred back to Kathgodam in almost 10 hours approx. On route, you will be visiting the market of Kausani from where you can get some souvenirs and the left with the sweet memories of your trip.
